The Louis Bahner family from Oberlungwitz in Saxony has been producing fine hosiery since 1748. The name ELBEO (phonetic for LBO = Louis Bahner, Oberlungwitz) was officially registered in 1871. From then on, the world’s first hosiery brand soon became a trendsetter: In 1937, ELBEO received the “Grand Prix Strumpf” at the World’s Fair in Paris. They introduced the first nylon tights in Europe in 1945, the first support stocking in 1959 and the first stocking with Lycra® in 1993.
