The rounded bowl sits comfortably in your hand. Immediately
you can feel how solid this mortar is: Made from solid wrought iron with an impressive weight of over 1kg (2.2 lbs). Unlike conventional pestles that come with a mortar, this grind cone fills the entire mortar bowl. Instead of expending effort, you can grind down peppercorns, mustard seeds, etc. at the flick of your wrist – quickly, gently and evenly. What’s more, nothing will escape when grinding.
Also ideal to crush fresh herbs.
The inside of the bowl and the base of the grind cone have rough grooves. You can also grind rosemary, oregano, pistachios, etc. for pesto and spicy dips. You can store your supply of spices in the storage space under the walnut lid.
- Measures 9 x 8cm (3.5" x 3") (height x diameter)
- Weight 1.1kg (2.4 lb)
- Clean with hot water and dry carefully after use
Long-lasting cast iron – traditionally made in Sweden for centuries.
The first iron foundries in Europe appeared in the 14th century in Sweden. Rich ore deposits, hydropower and forests where the wood could be found for fuel made the country an ideal location. In 1906, Skeppshult started up in southern Sweden. Today it is the only foundry in Scandinavia that still manufactures cast-iron pots, pans and kitchen accessories, made solely from natural materials and using traditional craftsmanship.
