Usually the container only holds 50g which means having to refill it during the preparation. The extra-large opening makes filling easier and reduces the number of spilled coffee beans.

The right grind determines the taste of your coffee.
Fine powder has a larger surface area and the hot water can extract more flavours at once than from coarse coffee grounds. Therefore, the rule of thumb is: The shorter the brewing time, the finer the coffee powder. An espresso, for example, which comes under great pressure from the portafilter machine usually brews in only 25 seconds. The recommended brewing time for a cafetière is 4 minutes.
