Often the silver coloured trimming on many lanterns is usually nothing more than nickel or a very thin chrome coating. However, this lantern has a heavy metal base and a trim at the top of the glass cylinder which is plated in non-tarnishing silver. This is what gives the precious metal its distinct deep, warm radiance.
